Telluride Top & Riviera Raglan Pattern Mashup

So, I was perusing the internets the other day when I came across this top.

Now, I know you do this too.  You see something you love, and your mind immediately goes to your fabric and pattern stash because you know you can make that.  As soon as I saw that top, I knew I needed to make a Telluride Top and Riviera Raglan mash up.  The Telluride has an awesome scoop neck option and set in sleeves, and I knew the Handkerchief Hem from the Riviera would mirror the loose, flowy bottom I was after.

After you grab both patterns, you’ll need to print/assemble/cut your pattern pieces.  I would have normally made an XS in both of these patterns, but to get a looser fit like my inspiration photo, I sized up to the Small this time.

For the Telluride you only need the Front Bodice and Back Bodice pattern pieces, and for the Riviera you’ll need the Handkerchief hem pieces from the armpit down. Here’s a handy chart to help with which pages to print (don’t forget to use the layers function if you want to).

Once you’ve got your two front pieces and two back pieces, the rest is simple.  I just lined my Telluride bodice piece right on top of my Riviera piece and lined them up at the armpit while keeping the pieces on the fold of the fabric.  From there, you just trace the pieces as if they’re all just one piece.  Do the same for the front of the shirt and the back of the shirt.

To finish, you’ll use the neckband and sleeve pieces from the Telluride and then following the instructions for finishing the handkerchief hem from the Riviera pattern.  Easy peasy!  If you try one of these mashups, make sure you share a picture in the New Horizons Pattern group on Facebook!
