Just made a pair of the Monaco shorts. They turned out super cute and were definitely a breeze to sew up. All told, from cutting to finishing, they took 3 hours. The only criticism I have, and it’s just an aesthetic thing, is the crotch seam. You spend time sewing in the lining and hiding all the other seams, only to finish with an ugly, exposed (and stiff, since it’s four layers) crotch seam. I don’t have a serger yet, but I imagine serging that seam would make it look a little nicer. There may not be a way to construct the shorts differently, but next time I make them, I’m going to take some time and figure out how to finish that seam more neatly.
